“This is just another evident of the security lapses my State Anambra is suffering from, that has brought about so many painful death and destruction in the past and still at present, i vow to redeem and restore my people Ndi-Anambra’s lost glory and dignity if Elected as the next governor of the state. Transforming my state into a safe heaven for all, giving the Youths a voice and the opportunity to showcase and excel in all their endeavours without any fear of being robbed, kidnapped or killed while visiting or living in Anambra State, which has made many of my people to run away from home and dwell in other lands. I will bring my people Ndi-Anambra home, unite them in a conducive environment to invest and dwell in so that together we can make Anambra State the best place to be in Africa, where lives and property protections will be an utmost priority”
He condemned the act as a sacrilege against God and humanity, he prayed that the security operatives arrest and bring the masterminders to judgement and condoles with the victims of the ugly incident, praying to the Almighty Chukwuokike Abiama to grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.
Yul Edochie, Nollywood actor and the son of veteran movie star, Chief Pete Edochie, announced on his Instagram page with a campaign poster that has his image encrypted on it, saying “My name is Yul Edochie. And I’m running for Governor of Anambra State. 2017. #TheLastBusStop.
He equally stated that Nigerians need a new brand of leaders who will put the masses first, hammering that the older ones have failed the country.
In his words, “We need a new brand of Leaders who will put the masses first. The older ones have failed us for too long… They have come to THE LAST BUS STOP!!!
The young Edochie however, did not mention the political party he intends contesting from. But reacting to his post, some followers who supported him, said that, it is time for Nigeria to have an intelligent, energetic, young and vibrant youth who will help address our political system for a viable economy. Whereas other supporters dramatically quizzed him with; which political party are you vying the position from?
If the 35 year old actor wins, he will be the first democratically elected governor in Nigeria and among few entertainers who have succeeded in achieving their political goals like Desmond Elliot who is currently representing Surulere 1 constituency at the Lagos state house of assembly.
