Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has advised Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun state to throw in towel and resign his position immediately over the defeat he and his party, All Progressive Congress (APC) suffered on Saturday July 8 during the Osun west senatorial by-election.
The Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate and the younger brother to the late senator Isiaka Adeleke, Ademola won nine local governments out of ten local governments in the Osun west senatorial district.

Aregbesola had boasted during the campaigns for his party’s candidate, Mudashiru Hussain that Adeleke would be defeated because he is novice politically.
He was also quoted to have said that he would resign if Adeleke won the election.

In his tweet concerning the PDP’s victory at the poll, Fani-Kayode said that since Adeleke has won the election contrary to Aregbesola’s assumption, the governor should do the needful and resign as promised without further delay.
He quoted Aregbesola as saying: “I will resign if Adeleke wins Osun West Senatorial bye-election”- Rauf Aregbesola. “
He further stated in his tweet that: “Adeleke has won. Shave off ur beard and RESIGN!”
It was earlier reported that Ademola Adeleke who is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been declared winner of the Osun west senatorial district by-election.
In what was supposed to be a hotly contested election which took place on Saturday, July 9, Adeleke defeated the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mudashiru Hussain who had the backing of Governor Rauf Aregbesola.
