Hard times hits TVC, Tinubu’s TV Stations, 145 workers sacked



Popular television station, Television Continental (TVC) has allegedly sacked 145 staff members.

The special assistant to the Governor of Ekiti state on public communications and new media, Lere Olayinka, disclosed this via his twitter handle, @OlayinkaLere.

Television Continental, located at Ikosi, Ketu, Lagos, is owned along with its sister company, Radio Continental by a former governor of Lagos state and national leader of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.


The news was also reported on Facebook by a journalist with The Nation Newspaper, Joke Kujenya, who further disclosed that security is tight around the area at the moment and that affected staff members have received their sack letters.

She wrote: “Tension rises as TVC is on massive retrenchment of staff today, Friday, June 2nd 2017.

“Security is tightened around the vicinity as Police and fierce-looking professional bouncers take strategic positions.

“A media staff confirmed some members of staff have already received their own letters saying the mood is really gloomy.

Let’s empathize and be with them in prayers.”
