The deputy senate president Ike Ekweremadu advised the Igbo people do avoid being provoked into armed struggle.

Ekweremadu who spoke at the World Igbo Congress (WIC) in Enugu state lamenting the developments in the South-East region gave rise to the agitations for Biafra 50 years ago.

The deputy senate president said the same lack of development is currently rejuvenating in full force.

 

He however, appealed to the people to refused every urge to be provoked into, “armed struggle no matter the intimidation, harassment and marginalization”.

He also added that Ndigbo have become an endangered specie in Nigeria where they ought to be equal with other citizens.

He also added that the National Assembly will continue to uphold the rights of every part of Nigeria to equity and fairness.

He said it is worrisome that no Igbo man exists in the top commanders of security agencies in Nigeria.

 

Voice of Ndigbo had earlier reported that some police officers stormed the official guest house of the deputy senate president.

The raid on Ekweremadu’s guest house came some days after the deputy senate president alleged plans by the police to harass him.
